Another year around the Son 2026
May 16 In the daily reading plan we read Hosea 1, Romans 9:22-26
Good morning from DC. A few places of prayer yesterday were sweet to me. We began in Williamsburg.

Jamestown church, and the prayers on the beach at Yorktown and the empty roads back north were filled with our prayers and songs. Yorktown is the battlefield of surrender. The war for America 🇺🇸 was won. Liberty’s triumph. Surrender is Lord’s gift of rest. It’s like the familiar presence of a tender and sagacious Father, his strength and love for you shelters and provides the warmth of love unearned. Bask for a moment today in his glory. Learn from Christ, a restful repose is offered. Come lay on the shores of the kingdom of light. Joyful is the cup Christ’s covenant offers. Freedom.

Hitherto darkness in general covered the earth, and gross darkness the people, as unto the knowledge of God; only there was a twilight in the church. The day did not yet dawn, the “shadows did not flee away,” nor the “day-star shine” in the hearts of men. But when the “Sun of Righteousness” did arise in his strength and beauty, when the Son of God “appeared in the flesh,” and in the discharge of his office, — God himself, as unto his being, and manner of existence in three distinct persons, with all the glorious properties of the divine nature, was illustriously manifested unto them that did believe; and the light of the knowledge of them dispelled all the shadows that were in the church, and shone into the darkness which was in the world, so as that none continued ignorant of God but those who would not see. See John i. 5, 14, 17, 18; 2 Cor. iv. 3, 4. Herein is the Lord Christ glorious.
He calls unto us, saying, “Behold me, — look unto me, — and be saved,” Isa. xlv. 22. John Owen Meditations and Discourses on the Glory of Christ

The Jamestown Church, located at Historic Jamestowne in Williamsburg, Virginia, is the site of the first Protestant church in English North America. Famous for hosting the first representative legislative assembly in 1619, it features a 17th-century brick tower and a 1907 memorial church built over the original foundations

May the Father of all mercies scatter light, and not darkness, upon our paths, and make us in all our several vocations useful here, and in His own due time and way everlastingly happy.”‘
-George Washington

Yesterday from Lynda:
Just noticing a pattern in the reading that we must make God the defense of His people. Asking for increased trust.
““Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.””
Isaiah 12:2 ESV

Today we will head to the Bible Museum here in DC. The Dead Sea scrolls are featured.
