Jacob and Denali

Wedding Outline for Jacob and Denali

Jacob. Denali. Welcome to your wedding day.  And I want to welcome both friends and family here to witness and celebrate with you.

All of us are thrilled and honored to be a part of the wedding party and to witness the vows you are about to take.

We’re just gonna take a moment to honor those who couldn’t be with us today. We love and preserve their memory, and their role on this beautiful day. We honor Jacob’s grandfather Randy Lowery. And Denali wants to honor Randy Gates, her Oma & Opa, and her great grandma GiGi as well 😉

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, our Creator we welcome you here today, as you miraculously blessed the wedding at Cana in Galilee we ask for blessing today. Lord, we know your steadfast love is established forever, and your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. (Ps. 89:1-2) Let your love be the foundation and your faithfulness be as constant as the sky above Jacob and Denali today and forever.

WEDDING CHARGE

“On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. (consider this amount in light of having recently filled up your gas tank) Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it to him. When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.” This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2:1-11 NASB1995

In this miracle, the bridegroom was praised even though Christ was the source and Jacob the Lord has the same blessing for you. May the Lord bless you with the best of the best.

By taking the vows you’re about to take, you’re declaring that the very foundation of your life together is a promise more precious than any riches. The ground that you walk on, the roof over your heads, the walls that surround you—the raw material for all of it is a love that is both rich and enriching. It’s an embarrassment of riches.
Here’s my charge to you: Live in the grace you’ve been given. Jonathon Rogers

Marriage is a gift of God for your mutual care, this love is created by God to support one another through joys and sorrows, and whatever the future may hold. And like the first miracle of Jesus, do whatever he tells you and if you ever feel the strain of providing —trust he has enough, more than enough, he will bless and provide for you. His promise is to instruct and guide you into an abundance of joy, and peace as you trust in God.

Love well when it’s easy and when it’s hard.   Hold on to each other in faithfulness.  It’s more than reeling in a massive steelhead, or the patience and practice of net fishing, this is an all in forever kind of love that will require early mornings and late nights, patience and practice at listening and understanding one another.

As you hold hands today, mind your grip. Approaching marriage is a bit like a handshake, it’s not the overly firm grip of a rough handshake or the timid grip of a hesitant one. This is direct, looks you in the eye and says MARRY ME, I’m yours forever. This is the one person you want to come home to.  Home is her heart.  Home is his arms.  Live there. It’s already noticeable to all who are here- the volume of love you share.  It’s God given, and has proven true for that we are thankful.

Jacob, live in this moment, her love is more exhilarating than any earthly accomplishment or weekend fishing trip, although we pray that you have many accomplishments and awesome, fishing trips 🙂 with Denali right there with you. Her gift of love today offers you more than any other will. That is an astonishing thing to think about. She is promising to walk with you forever. Denali looks breathtaking. You ARE and will be Denali’s longest and best friend, her favorite dance partner at every wedding, her go to for most everything, and her closest friend. And today she gives herself to you. And here it goes, — first you share a meal, then home, and then some day kids, and God willing grandkids. You may not always share the covers, or the same view point, or have the same schedule coming and going, but when it comes down to it–Denali is all in on you. TODAY AND FOREVER. Don’t just say GRACE before you eat—GIVE GRACE when you disagree, continue to offer it freely for each other’s faults or mistakes. And ask for grace and forgiveness when you need it.

Denali  you may not know the days ahead but you do know Jacob. This is your best friend for life. You can trust him to stick with you through whatever comes. You both bring out good in one another. You both are a real force of good in each other’s life. Be the salt of the earth kind of people. Balance one another, and as your marriage progresses, you will gain two viewpoints with which to see the world first will be the one you brought here today, but the second will be the unique perspective of your husband you will learn over time and then know like the back of your hand. What a gift his life is to yours. Fight for connection over being right.  Tackle problems together.  Be stubborn in this commitment to each other and flexible with one another. Show your affection, and never let him doubt that HE IS the best thing that has happened to you.

You each have chosen, to give yourself to the other, body and soul.  Song of Solomon said it best: ‘

I have found the one whom my soul loves.’ AND a close second would be from JRR TOLKIEN “I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.”
