Another year around the Son 1.24.25
Read Job 24, 1 Peter 1:13-25
Job’s description of humanity’s condition isn’t something we haven’t seen. I was downtown Spokane and the temps at night were 17-19 degrees. I was unable to ignore the destitute and homeless. If you have any charity in your heart it will shock compassion into you. I have to give. The love of Christ compels us (2 Cor 5:14 NIV). ‘They huddle in rocks because they lack shelter.’ (Job 24:7-8 NET) The ‘Spokane version’ would be: they huddle under overpasses surrounded by cold concrete because they lack shelter.
The world fails the poor. And the most reliable future is the grave without partiality. Job goes on to expound how the wicked are cut down like a head of grain. Job 24:24 NET
UNTIL JESUS. Jesus to John the Baptist explains his legitimacy and includes the gospel is preached to the poor. (Matthew 11:4-5, Luke 7:22-23)
As children of God while we are here, for such a short time let us act like God’s children. EH? Let’s give the angels and creation a glimpse of the children of God. (1 Peter 1:12, Romans 8:19 NET)
Take time to pray, OUR FATHER in heaven, your kingdom come. Heal, save, and deliver. We are not home yet, help us live a pilgrim life. Amen.
