Another year around the Son 3.20.25
Read Exodus 16, 2 Corinthians 8:1-15
Manna is given in order that God may prove to them where their trust really lies. Will they be tempted to gather more manna than their daily need? In the Lord’s prayer Jesus taught us to pray, “give us this day, our daily bread” and each day we will have to trust God all over again. Come on church, our trust is never misplaced.
The grace to give out of affliction, the NET calls it a severe ordeal of suffering, yet even in the suffering God imparts a new grace. They not only trusted God for provision, but they contributed. These believers from Macedonia are the ‘church’ and she abounds in generosity to help the saints. That’s our model. I’ll leave you with this 2 Cor. 8:7-9 …make sure that you excel in this act of kindness too. I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.
