Read Matthew 1, Luke 1, Luke 2:1-38
The ancestral line of Jesus, doesn’t hide sin. David’s messianic line is with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, (Matthew 1:6; Ruth 4:18-22; 1 Chron. 2:13-15.)
And the name given to Joseph for the Son, doesn’t hide the truth either, JESUS will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
John became strong in the Spirit, he was pre-known similar to Jeremiah ‘before you were in your mothers womb I knew you’, his father and mother were hand picked by God, his purpose was to reveal the light.
John 1:18
He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
I love the humbling God offers John’s father—ONLY when wrote his son’s name, was his speech restored. God’s accuracy and ability is DEAD ON.
John WILL DO his part in God’s plan, with laser focus he will prepare the nation to receive Christ, the Messiah.—THE LAMB 🐑 OF GOD.
SYDNEY LUND The responses of Zechariah and Mary are polar opposites. Zechariah, who is a priest to the Lord, doubts and gives all the reasons why him and Elizabeth cannot conceive a child. But, Mary simply asks how it will happen and then she responds with “I am the servant of the Lord”. I feel like this ties into when Jesus later says “unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). Mary was a child and Zechariah was advanced in years but the child is the one who was ready to accept the word of God and the older man, a priest even, found it hard to believe the word God spoke and He even sent an angel into the temple of the Lord and Zechariah still doubted.
