AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR OCTOBER 2

Read Psalms 106, John 1:4-14

Psalms 106 is a good summary of Israel’s mistakes. And before we’re quick to judge the entire Old Testament account, which we just finished, we stop. WE refrain hopefully because we each saw our own shortcomings in their account. Another overview to help reinforce our humility is in 1 Corinthians 10:1-12. Therefore, let him who thinks he stands, take heed that he does not fall.

All of these things happened as an example to us. Jesus in Luke 24:44 is giving his final words. All the things which are written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets in the Psalms must be fulfilled. And then in verse 45 it says, he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, AND THIS IS MY PRAYER FOR US. JESUS OPEN OUR MINDS TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES TOO.

In John 1:4 it says, ‘ In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.’

We need LIGHT to see. Jesus is able to give light to everyone. And everyone who believes in him, he gives the right (YOU HAVE THE RIGHT) to become the children of God, and it does not matter if you were born of natural descent from Abraham or not, you are born of God when you believe. Truth is truth, Jesus is a light to Gentiles.

His calling is to be a light also to the Gentiles (Isa. 42:6; 49:6). He came so that those who were afar off under the old covenant might be brought near in him (Eph. 2:13), made heirs of the promised Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38–39), and ingrafted into the olive tree that represents the covenant community (Rom. 11:17–24). — Ezekiel (The NIV Application Commentary) by Iain M. Duguid

Jesus is full of grace and truth. This theme will run through the NEW TESTAMENT.

SYDNEY LUND “Then they believed His words; they sang His praise. But they soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel.” -Psalm 106:12-13
I feel like it is so easy to forget what God has done for us when we are in seasons of waiting. Currently being in a season of waiting and not knowing what is next myself, this verse was encouraging to me to remember all that the Lord has done for me and how far He has already brought me and His plan is always good. Just because we can’t see what He is doing doesn’t mean that He isn’t doing something.
