AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR JANUARY 25
Read Job 14-17
Earlier this week I had a ‘jump out of bed’ from a dead sleep phone call. The kind you don’t know if peace will return. Your heart is pounding and your nerves are all put on HIGH ALERT. Instantly I thought of the young twenty-something who most likely would be NOT able to sleep. She is younger it was her boyfriend in trouble. She doesn’t have the same bandwidth I do for chaos. So I texted her some support. ‘When it is dark we see the stars, there is some light, and hope, for good to come still, out of this.’ AND then I prayed. I tossed and turned and prayed most all of the night till GOD gave me a word.
Support doesn’t have to be a sermon. I didn’t offer a rebuke. I offered my faith in Jesus and the tangible peace I had from his word on the matter.
When we are going through it we long for someone with power who can really HELP! Job felt that need. The urgency to find someone to pray for him like a friend. Jesus is our intercessor, Jesus is our friend.
Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend. Job 16:19-21 NIV
JESUS is our intercessor and friend! “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him. Since he always lives to intercede for them.”
Hebrews 7:25
He is always up. He is always ready to listen. He is always ready with help.
