If you are not experienced in prayer it can be challenging to know where to start. Learning to pray is a gift similar to learning a life skill, you must find the starting point. Gratitude is something no matter who you are or where you live you can express to God. Ilona Hines from IN GOD WE TRUST has put together a prayer of gratitude example for those who are learning how to pray. Ilona along with her family has made a calendar appointment to pray weekly. Each member holds this same priority, and YES it can be difficult when someone is out of the county, or time zones are different. However the value we find in weekly prayer far exceeds the challenges. Here is a quote we have found helpful to move from good intentions to positive action, “IF IT’S NOT ON YOUR CALENDAR, IT DOESN’T EXIST.”
Family prayer on Friday nights became a wonderful and desirable commitment. We know, when we get together in Jesus name, our wishes and concerns are heard! I personally feel this invisible but yet strong and powerful presence of God. It gives me calmness, peace and assurance that I’m on a right path. I love it!
Psalms 107:8-9 NIV
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
