Dominican Republic July 30

At this point we have been in the DR for 3 days, dive in with us as we prepare to serve.

July 30

Team engages prayer.

God is our provision. Today we are mindful of both our physical needs (ie those of our team) and the ongoing needs of those we are here to serve.  Knowing God abundantly supplies the energy and strength we will need today, give today your all.  Everything is unfamiliar, including the climate.  Our team goals today are to maintain flexibility, to not let the people around you be scenery but to really see them, and to give God our lack, our inability and to trust HIS SUPPLY.

Reflection Reading:

2 Corinthians 9: 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.” (Psalm 112:9)
10Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

“Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity.” Extremity is defined as the furthest point or limit of something.  At the end of your limit is God’s opportunity. Remember you are called here, to the Dominican Republic and if God has called you he will supply what you need to accomplish today’s work.

2 Cor. 3:4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God. 5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

Application

Listen: Have you ever seen God supply a need, help you beyond your limits, or bless you so abundantly you were able to give something or share something with someone in need?

Understand: In what way can we as a team prepare to serve with active faith?  Spend sometime asking for God opportunities today and know out of all the people in the world God chose you to be here.

Do THIS: What adjustments or action will you take today?  Write it out with intentionality to follow through.
