Confidence

On what are you basing your confidence?

This is a foundational question.  It will demand your attention throughout life.  In transition whether it is a promotion or a change of occupation, in the life of the newly married, when your children launch, yes at each turn we have an opportunity to hold our original confidence.

Everything is necessary that God sends our way; nothing can be necessary that he withholds.  John Newton

There are many objects that aid confidence (a great outfit, a word over your life, a vote of support from mom or dad) yet they are unreliable sources of it.  Grace is the most secure source for building confidence in us.  Confident faith is a powerful force for change.   Put weight in these passages below.  They hold fast and the confidence they bring will help warm you from the cold of transition.

Hebrews 3:14 (ESV) For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
Hebrews 4:16 with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
Hebrews 10:35  Therefore do not throw away your confidence which has great reward. v39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.
Phil 3:3 For we are the circumcision who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.
Job 31:24 If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,
Prov. 3:26 for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Ephesians 3:8 To me, the very least of all saints,  this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ. v11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord. v12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in him.  (another version says in him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.)
