Toil and Pull
This was the poem I wrote today about the messy tug pull/ “climbing the mountain” the struggle as we live out our faith-
Tug of war in the rope of relationship
I pull -you pull -our hearts and words burn
Blistered by the war of sin
Threatening loss of all we love
I pull harder my will is fierce
Tampered by a grace for humanity
surrounding us like the sea
Yet truth of heart is spoken here… I’m drowning in the bashing waves human rebellion
Oh the soul longs for peace and peaceful passage
Captain of my heart my flesh bears mark and toil and sweat
When all I really want to believe is the water laden wind of your Presence is enough to carry me
Enough for all those who
live this passage this voyage through human flesh bone and breath
They are my heart my love the chest beating pulse of my life
sons daughter brother friend and foe
Let the dear grace of God and wiser Captain of the soul lead the pull.
Heave direct plan navigate this life by God’s hand.
Grant me a voice loud and true to beckon storm tossed homes to you-
Hebrews 2
The following chapter has key words like the above poem:
“Lest we drift away”
“Steadfast”
“Sons brought to glory through the captain of their salvation”
Read a few verses with me: Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.” And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.” Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. (Hebrews 2:1-4, 10-14, 18 NKJV)
Prayer:
Here I am Lord- I place my human heart and my children in your trust. You oh God are able! Now, release your aid to all those struggling with temptation. Amen
Love the truth how we are all in this as one- one family made up of brothers and sisters.
Grace by Jesus love Charity
Good stuff Charity! Amen
