Another year around the Son 3.23.25
Read Exodus 21, Luke 18:31-43
I’ve been fascinated with Jesus. Here we are half way through the 40 days of Lent and the churches are focused on the emphasis of Jesus teachings and life. The biblical exactness and emphasis on the perfection of Christ can’t be overlooked. Consider the awe of how Jesus not only fulfills the law (Matthew 5:17–18) but “everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished… he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and mocked.” (Luke 18:31-32) Jesus knows where this is all heading and, he is still here for it. He even predicts it.
And just days later after the events of Luke 18 Jesus is turned over to Rome and mocked in the praetorium, the governor’s headquarters. Matthew 27:27-30
Christ’s complete adherence to the prophecies in scripture is part of HIS perfection. God’s precision in forecasting is far superior than any weather prediction. Jesus in his high priestly prayer predicts the doom of Judas “none has been lost except he one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” John 17:12 NET The scripture fulfilled is Psalm 41:9 NET
Christ’s blood will be spilled and this will change everything. Side with him and live eternally, betray him and woe. “For the Son of Man will go as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had never been born.” Jesus Christ Mark 14:21 NET
Lent offers us a chance to humble ourselves to bend low and let grace crown you, let the Father throw his robe over your shoulders. The mighty gospel of Jesus can soften our rough and calloused souls. Grace is real. Don’t forget how a thief hung dying and had a breakthrough. In the grip of belief he changed sides within the last few hours before both he and Christ died, knowing “today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

Simon was paid the price a master would be paid if one of his servants was killed. Jesus says, “even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
