Read Job 32-33, Acts 10:1-23
Elihu for the majority of the dialogue has said nothing, as he was listening. And now he finally with an urgency speaks up to address the grandeur of God. He will not accuse Job. Elihu highlights a deeper understanding with suffering. Job had brought up a question about where to go for wisdom and Elihu claims to have it from the Lord even though he is younger. Elihu will find the cracks in the speeches already given. His wisdom is from the Spirit and God never corrects Elihu when he makes his appearance.
Job 32:6-8 NET But it is a spirit in people, the breath of the Almighty, that makes them understand. (Job 33:4)
The Spirit of God will fall on Cornelius and his entire house. The breath of the Almighty, the breath of the Spirit will use the unlikely gentile house to display his Spirit and Elihu is an example of another unlikely source for wisdom. Elihu will prepare a long brief of arguments with respect and order. Jeremiah describes his words as fire in his bones, (Jeremiah 20:9) and Elihu says he is like wine that has no outlet, ready to burst. (Job 32:19 NET)
Elihu says it plain in Job 33:12 NET, God is greater than a human being. Isaiah will agree with him in Isaiah 55:8 NET
Elihu will outline how God speaks:
1 In dream Job 33:15 NET or a vision as he did with Peter in Acts 10:11-15
2 Through revelation Job 33:16 NET (as in to inform like in Ruth 4:4 making something known, but with God it’s like he did to Samuel with regards to Saul 1 Sam 9:15 NET)
3 Through pain Job 33:19 NET C.S. Lewis echos Elihu, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
