AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR DECEMBER 18

Read Hebrews 1-4

Christ comes over like a friend, a welcome relief of safe company. Take the hurt to Jesus. Take the trial. Take the weight of wrong to the cross. We can try and see everyone through the law, those perfect commandments, and we can count them out, and while we are doing it count ourselves out. WAIT. WAIT…OR, we can see them and ourselves through the cross of Jesus Christ and know we are all forgiven, helped, and healed. When you are suffering read, Hebrews 2, Jesus too has suffered and is here to help you. He knows the weakness you feel when faced with temptation. His example is there when you are tempted. Do as he did. Recite the word of God. Pray for mercy. Pray till the angel shows up to offer relief to you like the angel did for Christ. (Luke 22:43) He understands the pain of of being exposed to suffering, and here in this verse he promises immediate help. All I can do is worship, ‘what a friend we have in Jesus’ 🤍

“Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“What would it be like for a friend to take our two hands and place them on the chest of the risen Lord Jesus Christ so that, like a stethoscope letting us hear the vigorous strength of a beating heart physically, our hands let us feel the vigorous strength of Christ’s deepest affections and longings? Goodwin is saying: We don’t have to wonder. Hebrews 4:15 is that friend.” — Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane C. Ortlund

Jesus went in with his own blood to the mercy seat and made payment. Trust no debt remains. (Lev. 16:14, Hebrews 4:15)
