AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR DECEMBER 16
Rest Day

Yesterday in Costco I saw a blind man walking across the parking lot with help. And instantly I thought of Christ healing the blind and what a fantastic miracle that really is… and prayed someday I could do the same. And I wondered when? When will Christ heal again? Today I came upon this quote from the Christmas Carol: “As good as gold,” said Bob, “and better. Somehow he gets thoughtful, sitting by himself so much, and thinks the strangest things you ever heard. He told me, coming home, that he hoped people saw him in the church, because he was a cripple, and it might be pleasant to them to remember upon Christmas Day who made lame beggars walk and blind men see.” Charles Dickens
Resting while we wait. We wait for Christ to heal, to comfort, to reconcile. We wait and somehow we get thoughtful too. Perhaps in our unrecovered state we are giving off the faintest light of hope in the darkness of winter, as we attentively look to Christ with expectation of good in the midst of it all. Our waiting indicates someone worth waiting for. It’s a quiet whistling joy uncooperative with our weariness and woe. Who but Christ can will this joy into the dark? Who but Christ?
