AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR OCTOBER 18
Read Matthew 15, Mark 7, 8:1-10
Decapolis had previously begged Jesus to leave, however HE comes back to the region. It’s here that Jesus repeats the feeding of the multitudes. These ‘other side of the lake’ less holy pig 🐖 eating folk are in for a second dose of JESUS in their region. Jesus this time provides for them, contrasting his earlier visit when their pig population drops off a cliff. Yet, lack can’t linger when the finger of GOD has come among you.
They say that the tile in the church had baskets tiled on the floor so as to not forget his miraculous provision from seven 🐟 fish and some bread.
Historically the finger of God is a reference to God’s authority and power, dominion and kingdom.
In the confrontation with Pharaoh his magicians said, “This is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19), and later when God gives Moses the covenant law, “inscribed by the finger of God” (Exodus 31:18). In the days of the Son of God demonstrating his dominion Jesus said, “If I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Luke 11:20).
