AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR MARCH 24

Read Joshua 23-24, Judges 1

LYNDA MURPHY: Thinking about how often in the Bible they used a large stone or heap of stones as a “witness”. The rocks themselves were the witness. Why an inanimate object? Ppl are so fickle & the Bible sometimes refers to them as a false-witness but the rocks can’t lie.
But because of Jesus we are able to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth! (Acts 1:8)
1 Peter 2:5 tells us we are living stones!
“you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

CHARITY RATTRAY: Joshua’s farewell, is a strong exhortation to follow God, as long as he was alive they followed the Lord.
May this be said of you and your influence!
Today we ask ourselves what influence are we having?
Also what courage and boldness for God are we capable of? You may be a saved son or daughter, however we must be freshly filled with the Holy Spirit. You have read ‘the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us’ But how do you know? Look for the fruit of the Spirit, (Gal 5)and look for a boldness as a direct result of prayer.

Acts 4:31, as they assembled for prayer, “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”

Today I pray for boldness to say the name Jesus, to share the gospel, to walk patient when the pull towards impatience is strong. Lord we seek your face. Amen!

Coming up on Palm Sunday, I am reminded in the life of Jesus praise is overwhelming Jerusalem, and if the sons and daughters of God won’t praise Jesus says the stones will. Everything around Jesus triumphant entry began to reverberate with praise. HE IS WORHTY. WORTHY of the palm branches, worthy of our cloaks and coverings to be thrown down before him. WORTHY. How did creation not groan with the weight of praise when the redemption of the children of God entered the city! Oh for the earth to praise him like it’s described Psalm 148, and Romans 8:20-21, ‘For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.’ Creation is giving and does give God praise. How much more the Christ, son of the living God. Luke 19:40
