AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR FEBRUARY 8
Read Exodus 19-21
This is the approach and description of Mount Sinai.
‘Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” Hebrews 12:21
Trembling and powerful displays of God place a proper fear of the Lord and keep the Israelites from sin.
If you want to steal but then realize the punishment for the crime is severe you will restrain your desire for sin out of prudence.
Until you know the exact nature of God, ie Jesus— fear of God guides one away from sin.
In Hebrews it says that we have come to Mount Zion a much different mountain. Joyful assembly innumerable angels.
‘But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,’ Hebrews 12:22
Jesus really has fulfilled all righteousness.
We have a faithful high priest who can qualify us and can purify us!
Today I read the law, as an understanding of the righteous requirements for perfection.
And then I look to Jesus! And when I place my faith in Jesus he changes my heart. (Ezekiel 36:26, Hebrews 8:10)
Oh what grace!
Oh what life HE GIVES!
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. Psalm 89:14
‘The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all peoples see his glory.’
Psalms 97:1-6 NIV
“You, Lord my God, ‘light a lamp for me to bring light into my darkness.’ For ‘we all partake of your fullness,’ since you are ‘the true light, giving light to every man who comes into this world.’ In you ‘there is no alteration or dimming by time.’”
