AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR JANUARY 18
READ GENESIS 41-43
Can you see the bigger story God is working in Jospeh? God is not held back or detoured by the failures of Jacob’s sons. He uses all things to work a salvation from starvation for the sons of Jacob.
Joseph has a consistent gift to interpret dreams. Yet even with his track record Joseph is diligent and humble when Pharaoh asks for his interpretation. “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Gen. 41:16
Joseph also teaches us we can be fruitful even in suffering. Gen. 41:52 ‘The second son he named Ephraim (means twice fruitful) and said, ‘it is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.’
Jacob can’t see the plan God has and says, ‘Everything is against me.’ Can you relate? In those times when we can’t see the plan we trust the character of God.
The only way Jacob will let Benjamin go to Egypt is due to the extensive famine and threat of starvation. Israel heading back to Egypt is part of a greater plan. God is making a nation and all the events work toward this end.
