AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR JANUARY 10
READ GENESIS 17-19
Abram fell facedown.
God says I will make nations of you.
The angels urged Lot, saying, ‘Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.’ (Gen. 19:15)
Lot hesitated. (God is merciful and has the angels grasp his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters to escort them out of the city).
The contrast between these two men and their responses to God’s visitations and directions to them are vastly different.
How will I respond? Lord I am grateful that even when we hesitate you are merciful.
“But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.”
Genesis 19:16 ESV
The heart of the Lord is full of MERCY!!! So much mercy and patience. Thank you Father, you are so good to us, even when we are slow to hear your voice and to follow you. You come running even when we are far off.
That reminds me of a quote by George Muller:
“It has pleased the Lord to teach me a truth… I saw more clearly than ever that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was to have my soul happy in the Lord”.
Thinking about how human it is to ask, plead, beg for God’s direction and then when He answers, say, You want me to do what?? 😊 Thank you Charity for writing these daily posts.
