AWAKE BIBLE IN A YEAR JANUARY 9
READ GENESIS 14-16.
Melchizedek is the first priest ever mentioned in the Bible! And what does he do? He confirms Abram, he blesses Abram, he gives him bread and wine. What? What? Take note it’s the same meal we eat as communion today.
You are the same God.
Genesis 14:19-20 He blessed him and said:
ABRAM IS BLESSED BY GOD MOST HIGH, CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, AND I GIVE PRAISE TO GOD MOST HIGH WHO HAS HANDED OVER YOUR ENEMIES TO YOU.
Ps. 50:15 Call upon me in the day of trouble I shall rescue you, and you will honor me.
We call on the same God today, as Abram did. When we eat the ‘bread and wine’ of Jesus body and blood, we are blessed as well. God’s whole point in giving us a priest is to bless us. It’s the law of first mention, a helpful guideline when studying scripture we see the purest intention of the priesthood, in this first exchange. Melchizedek confirms the Lord’s personal encounters with Abram publicly in a blessing! How does Abram honor this priest? He gives him a tenth of everything.
Are you in a battle? Call on the GOD MOST HIGH, he is the source for your rescue. And honor him when he does!
