“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
See JESUS clearly at the front tonight. He is it. He is the only person who is the express image of God established firmly in human history and many don’t quite know what to do with him. Often I don’t know what to do with him. I am like Peter realizing in those moments of power and harvest such a haul caught that I’m so unworthy. And even there Jesus won’t leave. He stays with Peter to reveal the unchanging new covenant. There is an agreement between God and humanity, Jesus will do it.
He reveals to the world, to the church, and to our culture He alone saves. His Kingdom was subversive to the world system. So yes a culture carefully crafted by the strength of engineers and entrepreneurs isn’t enough to rescue and rebuild us. He has clearly shown us the standard for love and it is beyond our capacity. The solution to a lack of consistent steadfast love hadn’t been found till Christ. Have you found him? When Revelation 4:11 hits home you worship.
“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
You know with all your being there is no one worthy, BUT JESUS. JESUS IS WORTHY.
Tonight, I want to ask you a question.
Tonight I have another question. What is Jesus, looking for? HIS OWN GLORY -NO THE GLORY OF GOD.
He says…
Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. John 7:18
Jesus in conversation with a questionable woman who had over 5 husbands reveals what God is looking for- worshippers. He is calling us to worship in spirit and truth. This is our response. Worship.
Worship and we find depth of joy enough to outlast any circumstance. Worship is a place where sin is forgiven and forsaken. He shifts our perspective to a place of surrender to a grace beyond what we deserve. You know the song “this is how I fight my battles” No matter the level of your struggle or the depth of your shame God is there to rescue. He has done it. He has the authority to redeem every circumstance. However we can’t worship God circumstantially tonight.
I was driving this pass in Washington that I drive so often, that I love, for years, I’ve prayed, driven, worshipped and it hit me with fresh perspective God has done so much. So much for me personally, and I don’t want to come, I didn’t want to come to God in that moment trying for one more breakthrough. Pushing my way through Christian passcodes of worship to move one more mountain. We need to find perspective- the only way back is Jesus. You have to find a hope you can identify with. Jesus is that hope. The woman at the well fixed it all upon Jesus. And Jesus was enough for the entire city. Jesus is worthy of your expectations tonight. If God has brought you tonight to this place, he is gonna use it— he is gonna impart his worth, the authentic, radical hope of Christ in you. Glory in the house tonight. Glory to God in the house tonight. Glory to God in your awe and worship. He alone is WORTHY.
