Dear Twenty Something, Lynda Murphy

Dear 20 Something,

The question was asked of me if I had the opportunity to share some wisdom to an audience of twenty somethings, what would I say? I am not sure that I can share something profound or even something that you’ve not heard before. In fact what I have to share you’ve probably heard so many times before that it may be lost on you. So here are a few of God’s whispers to my heart:

-God loves you. Like crazy loves you. If you don’t know that beyond a shadow of a doubt, open His Word every single day & I guarantee you will. “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”-Jeremiah 29:13 ESV

-Love is an infinitely more powerful motivator than fear. God gently tells us over & over in scripture “Do not be afraid”, while simultaneously reminding us His love is steadfast & faithful.

-Fear can be an idol. Idols aren’t always in the form of shopping or the internet. What is it that you dread & fear more than you reverence & awe God?

“Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not lay it to heart? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and you do not fear me?” Isaiah 57:11 ESV

-He already knows our fears and longs to tear down each and every thing standing between us.

“And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.”….”I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the Lord, “and I will heal him.” Isaiah 57:14, 18-19 ESV

-You can know God but also be known by God. I love how David invites God to know him. “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” Psalms 139:23 ESV

-Pay attention to the “ALL” verses. Think of it as a treasure hunt;)

-Every single thing God says is 100% true. Who else has that guarantee?? “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5 ESV

-It is impossible for God to deceive us Hebrews 6:18. I can’t say it better:)

-This last one changed my life. I learned this from Henry Blackaby’s Experiencing God. Determine in your heart that all God has to do to prove His love for you is to die on the cross.

“… I had made a determination: No matter what my circumstances, I would never look at my situation except against the backdrop of the cross. In the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God forever convinced me that he loved me….. No matter what your circumstances are God‘s love never changes. The cross, the death of Jesus Christ, and his resurrection are God’s final, total, and complete expression that He loves you. Never allow your heart to question God‘s love. Settle it on the front end of your desire to know Him and experience Him. He loves you. He created you for a love relationship. He has been pursuing you in that love relationship. Every encounter He has with you is an expression of His love for you. God would cease to be God if He expressed Himself in any way other than perfect love!”

Charity here, Thanks for your words of truth friend, I value your honest voice so often in my life.
