World Peace

All I want for Christmas is?

If you had one Christmas wish what would it be? And then while you are meditating on yours I’ll tell you mine, world peace. No more terrorist explosions or shootings. No fear and loss I pray the fatal wound of mankind would be healed. I pray homes full of indifference and families torn apart by pride, would reconcile.

After our college ministry “Christmas Salt” I had a conversation with Cheryl mid laughing I asked her, “What is your Christmas wish!” And then interrupted her with, “but before you tell me I’ll let you know mine is world peace.” The classic wish of peace on earth.

During my flight to Maui the college girl I was sitting next to on the plane jokingly bantered about what I do and she said “it must be challenging world peace and all.”

She hadn’t even a clue what I do.

Yesterday this little red head with bright blue eyes while in the pool instantly decided she loved me. She was in first grade and wanted to stay with me as long as I would allow. She was wearing a necklace with a symbol of the world and peace. As if it was nothing when I asked about it she replies “world peace” as if everyone is ALL about it. In our world this Christmas it is as if terror is on the rise. Paris, France and now just two states away in California.

The prince, the only Son of God, the prince of peace comes. He settles like a calm on storm tossed seas upon the waves of humanity. His calm is available to you. In the peace of a sleeping babe you first encounter Him. The child of a King, the prince of heaven.

Perfect love. Perfect peace. World peace is more than a wish, it is the government of God. To you and I and all who welcome Christ the Lord he is a King and His reign offers peace to a weary world.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33
