This photo was taken at Sunrise from the top of Mt. Haleakala on Maui after the Tsunami scare throughout Hawaiian Islands. Our family experienced the evacuation process and spent the night in the car during what was an otherwise blest refreshing trip. In all the turmoil my heart ached for the Japanese people and I want Japan to know we are praying for you!!

Ruth 4:2-4

2 Boaz took ten of the elders of the town and said, “Sit here,” and they did so. 3 Then he said to the guardian-redeemer, “Naomi, who has come back from Moab, is selling the piece of land that belonged to our relative Elimelek. 4 I thought I should bring the matter to your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if you will not, tell me, so I will know. For no one has the right to do it except you, and I am next in line.”

Boaz continues on and legally redeems Ruth and the land concerning her family. What had brought them to this point of life? A difficult series of death’s had led Naomi (mother-in-law) and Ruth to widowhood and poverty beyond their power to change. Boaz petitions the one who holds the right of redemption- just like Christ petitions the Father on our behalf. I love how it says “no one has the right to do it except you”

God alone has the power to redeem!
God- also used this passage to speak to me about His heart of love concerning not only our life, but our properties and lands- and the ones we love (Naomi was also blessed by Ruth’s redemption). May our families be blessed because of how Jesus Christ has redeemed us!

Boaz pursues the matters both legally and publicly to announce his intentions about the matter’s concerning Ruth.

Jesus enters our lives not only for relationship but for restoration via His sweet redemption.

Titus 2:14 Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us…
