I have the following Psalm running through my thoughts.
While in Haiti at Child Hope I wept often. The temptation to look away from the sufferings of others is constant for the church in the west. When attending the feeding program I took some time and looked at each child. My job was to hand out the stickers to these beautiful Haitian children. As I gave out the simple joy of a sticker my eyes met theirs. The mothering heart in me made them laugh, wanted to give away the blessing of Jesus. So I chatted with them prayed for them and steadily poured out the prayers of my heart to God for their hope. Hope in Jesus. Blessings of God’s Presence, prayers for healing when they were sick. In the wake of that afternoon, my emotions drained my heart sick with love for these lives so far from my own- my lips just kept pouring forth petitions to God. And as a young girl found by God- I have unexplainable hope and faith that God is hearing and moving! He is author of the impossible. In my own life, I’ve come to know my trust in Him is never misplaced. That night as we danced, sweet DAPHNE who was brought to Maison de Lumiere by an aunt who had cared for her since both of her parents died fell asleep in my arms. Gazing down upon her I saw her warm tender frame so filled with peace. I knew God’s light had shown forth to rescue her and His Presence would lead her on! It is true Child Hope is a LIGHTHOUSE.
God is our foundation- and though many parts of our lives are shaken to what seems like the core; Christ remains faithful. Everyday someone or something tempts our hearts to doubt God. It is the challenge of a life of faith. However, as time unravels the truth we see clearly- GOD IS HERE. God is with us. God’s faithfulness is beyond human ability or compassion. (read Ephesians 1 for more on that) When our compassion fails, His doesn’t fail. When our love fails, His never fails. (1 Cor 13) I pray today you would and I would- have our eyes opened to see this great love in all it’s beauty. May we stop tempting one another with our doubts and start encouraging each other with God’s word. He has declared that in CHRIST is our life. This life is the light of the world, the hope undefeated, the promise unbroken, the strength in our weakness, the love forgotten and now found. I’m praying we are inspired to a place of awe. Hushed in all our protests by the greatness of our MIGHTY GOD.
He is worthy. His arms still hold your world and mine. Like the sunshine after the winter months of grey- God is here shinning light upon our lives today.
LOVE Charity
Psalm 111
1PRAISE THE Lord! (Hallelujah!) I will praise and give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart in the council of the upright and in the congregation.
2The works of the Lord are great, sought out by all those who have delight in them.
3His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever.
4He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious, merciful, and full of loving compassion.
5He has given food and provision to those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever and imprint it [on His mind].(A)
6He has declared and shown to His people the power of His works in giving them the heritage of the nations [of Canaan].
7The works of His hands are [absolute] truth and justice [faithful and right]; and all His decrees and precepts are sure (fixed, established, and trustworthy).
8They stand fast and are established forever and ever and are done in [absolute] truth and uprightness.
9He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant to be forever; holy is His name, inspiring awe, reverence, and godly fear.
10The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of [a]Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever. [Job. 28:28; Prov. 1:7; Matt. 22:37, 38; Rev. 14:7.]
